The Bastard Moonchild’s demented thoughts and mundane stories

Mag-ingat sa magnanakaw sa Market! Market!

I’ve always maintained the belief that when something gets lost permanently, just thank your stars that at least it wasn’t you.

See yesterday evening, my mom told me that my lola, who’s here in the country for a vacation, lost her watch and bracelet in the tiangge area of Market! Market! that morning.

She didn’t notice they got lost until it was almost time to go home.

My lola, mom, and tito stopped by Market! Market!, probably because my lola wanted to shop for stuff. According to my mom, they stopped at a tiangge stall and bought something (my mom did not elaborate on what it was). She said the vendor took his/her time looking for a change for 100 pesos. And that’s when it probably happened.

My lola said she didn’t feel anything or noticed anyone trying to snatch her watch.

And she got upset, not because the watch was "pricey", but because it was a priceless gift from my cousins. And the bracelet was given to her by my mom (who also planned on giving it to my tita in Canada).

My mom and I theorized that probably the vendor was involved in this dirty snatching scheme. Like what she said, it was odd that the vendor did not have change for just 100 pesos. He/she must have waited until the snatcher could do his job.

And then what, they sell it and share the profit?

But of course they would not admit it, would they?

I told my mom, despite what happened, it was a good thing she didn’t get hurt or lost something more important (like her IDs and passport, which she brings along everywhere she goes) or anything. But yeah, it was important to her — it was a gift — and it was taken from her just like that.

In a country and time where cellphones cost you your life, no place is safe from these evildoers. Everywhere, there is a criminal (petty or worse) lurking around, waiting for an unsuspecting victim.

It’s just so sad how they can stand doing these things to innocent people, who have worked so hard to earn, when they resort to the get-rich-quick scheme of stealing.

And there is nothing else we can do but to be vigilant.

To my friendsters, let’s always be careful wherever we are.

And to that thief and vendor in Market! Market!, I just have one thing to say: KARMA COMES AROUND WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT.

Bask in your riches now. I’ll let the Higher Being render your punishment in time.
