Shit happens
… And more often than not, you just can’t do anything about it.
An unfortunate incident happened at my SO’s apartment, which he was sharing with some of our friends. Last night or just this early morning, someone sneaked in and stole my friend’s cellphone and wallet. That freak also got the cellphone, wallet and earrings of a friend’s companion.
Before you start asking questions, yes, the door was locked. Unfortunately the freak managed to get the keys of the door which was left lying above the DVD player a couple of feet away from the window (which did not have a screen). How he/she did it? Probably used a sungkit. So there. I guess they were too sound asleep not to hear the door open. And the freak probably was in a hurry or he didn’t want people to suspect him so he got the easiest things to hide in his/her pocket.
Our friend’s lady companion (that friend of ours was out, probably rendering OT) woke up and saw the door partly open. When she found out that her wallet, cellphone and earrings were missing, she immediately woke my other friend (who was there with his partner). He also found out that his cellphone and wallet were missing. Good thing his partner’s cellphone was still there.
There was no sign of the freak rummaging their things, and my friend’s shoes were still complete and neatly arranged, so those mentioned above were probably the only things that were stolen.
And no, my SO was not in the apartment when it happened. He was at work, rendering OT.
My SO and our friends are planning their next move. But let this be a lesson to all. You gotta observe caution at all times, sleep like a chicken if you can, and a little cynicism and xenophobia in the body can do you some good.
After all that, one thing’s left to say.
