The Bastard Moonchild’s demented thoughts and mundane stories

Despedidas, cocktails and Dencio’s: bon voyage, Brandon Bhoyd

So continues our neverending goodbyes.

Our friend Oji is leaving for Vietnam this Friday, Sept. 1, to work there as an art director. So last night at Dencio’s Megamall, we got to have a reunion of sorts with some ex-Montage peeps and good friends. It was a fun night, complete with jokes, reminiscing, food and beer — and Oji’s autographed picture (image model ng beeper noong panahon yan). My face hurt from too much laughter. But it was all good.

That moment will make a perfect segment for Nelz’s I Shot My Barkada part 3.

And since I’ve mentioned Dencio’s…

I must say that I am completely and utterly unsatisfied with their service. I’ve been there at the same branch twice this month, and I was so wrong to have thought that maybe it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

The food was okay. It’s just that it takes the waiters too long to serve it on the table. One particular waiter failed to take note of our additional orders at one point that we, the customers, had to repeat the orders for them (bangenge?). We had to call waiters two to three times to follow up requests for water and such. They served the sisig without calamansi and soy sauce. At one point I saw the waiters converge by the bar to make chismisan to one another, with no regard for customers waving their hands at them, and one waiter rubbing his nose (to think he’s gonna serve food to the customers)! Talk about customer service. If the rules in Diner Dash would have been applicable in real life, I could have walked out the restaurant without paying.

And another thing, the aircon had water dripping from it — the same situation it was in when we went there two weeks ago. Di pa rin naaayos yan? And yeah, I really hate it when waiters would clean up your table while you’re still there. It’s like they’re driving away the customers. Duh.

Well, at least friends made the dining experience bearable.

If given an evaluation sheet, I would have probably given them low marks for service. Time to improve, guys. Para rin sa ikagaganda ng business n’yo yan.

Just want to know…

Got this Johari window thing from a friend. I remember doing this kind of stuff on paper as an activity for a teambuilding seminar. I just want to know — again — if you see me the way I see me.

Click this link and let me know!

Fine if you call it sourgraping

It’s been the third year I’ve gone to witness the Gundam Action Kit contest where Gundam enthusiasts and airbrush addicts converge to customize their beloved mechs.

And it’s the same thing every year.

Okay, what I mean is the same set of judges, the same set of contestants, and the same set of winners. Or almost.

Maybe you’re thinking that I’m kinda ranting because my baby didn’t win even a consolation prize, but to tell you the truth, I saw a lot of potential winners yesterday that didn’t win (syempre, my SO ’s entry included). And I can’t help but think that the contest’s winners are already predetermined.

Maybe next time, the organizers should get a new set of judges for the next contest come November. You know, to avoid biases caused by the judge/s and contestant/s being "chummy" with each other. Gets?

Panot kayo lahat.

Wednesday night video on board

Buses with the Quiapo-Taytay route, espacially air-con ones, usually have TVs inside them (used either to entertain commuters or cause dizziness and nausea to these poor people). I try to enjoy my ride home by watching snippets of the programs shown on that TV, that is if the reception is clear enough.

So last night I got to catch a part of GMA 7’s Majika on board. Fine, another fantaserye stuff. But wait, what is this…?

The plot goes like this: Angel Locsin’s Sabina and Dennis Trillo’s Argo are so much in love with each other. But a dark secret is revealed: they learn they are siblings because they have the same father. Ewww. Talk about almost-incest. So anyway, they know that they cannot be together, blah-blah, and all that sh–.

Now, considering the flashback that Carmina Villaroel’s character gave the viewers, I have a friggin’ question. If Jean Garcia’s character, her sister, was in some sort of hibernation in some place far away from the guy, which happens to be Zoren Legaspi, and he falls in love with Carmina and impregnates her, how can she be pregnant the same time as Carmina? Gets? That would have been a pretty fast move from the dude.

Wow, why do I even bother?

Anyway, going back to the Sabina-Argo issue, I have a feeling there is a twist there. Maybe Argo has a different father. Still, if they weren’t siblings, they would have been related, as their mothers are sisters, right?

So does the magical kingdom of Saladin allow first cousins to get married?

I know someone who would cringe at the thought.

But then again, why do I even bother?

POL: Maganda sana siya, kaya lang matigas ang punto.

ZETH: Eh di pakuluan mo para lumambot.

I swear this place beats any hospital’s psych ward you’ve ever been to.

I wonder…

Rocha, never in my wildest dreams did I wish to become the President of the Philippines.

Mas kuntento ako sa pangarap na maging pinuno ng Bureau of Customs. Maraming libre dun…

Or probably Miss Universe. But I’m both over and underqualified. Overqualified sa brains, underqualified sa height.

Wahahaha!!!

Don’t take this post seriously. Remember, this is a blog of a demented mind.

It’s a small world after all

It was a fun rainy Friday. Congratulations, by the way, is due to our bastard friend, Nelz, for a successful exhibit launch (walang ribbon cutting?). His exhibit runs for about a month, I think, at Pablo in the former Marikina Shoe Expo in Cubao.

Anyway, I just found out how the title/adage It’s A Small World rings so true in real life. You never know how people you knew before would be connected to people you knew now. For example, during the exhibit, I saw:
- a former busmate (grade school pa ito) who is now my friend’s boss (if I’m not mistaken);
- an ex of a college friend (never noticed until Carly pointed it out);
- college friends in the same area, looking for a place to eat dinner;
- my ka-tocayo having the same hairdo as mine (okay, so that probably wouldn’t fall under this category, but I just wanted to mention it).

Well I guess when you get older you create relationships with people you don’t know are connected to one another. Ah, such is the mystery of life. Charot!

——–

On another note…

I think I am gaining notoriety among my friends who think that I write too much in my blog. Two college friends have pointed out that they always see my blog alerts in their email. As Ipe said, I write everyday (to which I disagree, and he makes bawi and says, "Okay, every other day.").

Okay, I’ve been reserving to answer this come the near future, when my posts have reached 200 (haha!). But because you might be wondering why I write a lot, here are a few answers I’ve come up:
- free internet connection in the office (which explains why my entries are usually posted during weekdays); and
- I believe that, aside from solving crossword puzzles and dancing, writing regularly will decrease my chances of having demetia, schizophrenia and all sorts of psychological disorder. Writing relieves me of stress and it’s my way of releasing pent-up feelings that may be a cause of some sort of illness, whether physical or psychological. But that’s not scientifically proven; that’s just me.

So there. Anyway, thanks for reading, if ever you take the time to do so.

But I guess there’s one thing you don’t know: I read blog entries twice as much as I do writing. So to my friends who have blogs, don’t think I don’t read them. Just because I don’t leave a comment doesn’t mean I dont click that "Read Blog" button.

Shit happens

… And more often than not, you just can’t do anything about it.

An unfortunate incident happened at my SO’s apartment, which he was sharing with some of our friends. Last night or just this early morning, someone sneaked in and stole my friend’s cellphone and wallet. That freak also got the cellphone, wallet and earrings of a friend’s companion.

Before you start asking questions, yes, the door was locked. Unfortunately the freak managed to get the keys of the door which was left lying above the DVD player a couple of feet away from the window (which did not have a screen). How he/she did it? Probably used a sungkit. So there. I guess they were too sound asleep not to hear the door open. And the freak probably was in a hurry or he didn’t want people to suspect him so he got the easiest things to hide in his/her pocket.

Our friend’s lady companion (that friend of ours was out, probably rendering OT) woke up and saw the door partly open. When she found out that her wallet, cellphone and earrings were missing, she immediately woke my other friend (who was there with his partner). He also found out that his cellphone and wallet were missing. Good thing his partner’s cellphone was still there.

There was no sign of the freak rummaging their things, and my friend’s shoes were still complete and neatly arranged, so those mentioned above were probably the only things that were stolen.

And no, my SO was not in the apartment when it happened. He was at work, rendering OT.

My SO and our friends are planning their next move. But let this be a lesson to all. You gotta observe caution at all times, sleep like a chicken if you can, and a little cynicism and xenophobia in the body can do you some good.

After all that, one thing’s left to say.

Yes, shit happens.

Regret

Filed under: Uncategorized — kablagblog at 4:23 am on Thursday, August 10, 2006

It’s something that I’ve been trying to avoid for the past 26 years.

And I think I’ve taken a step further to remove it in my system.

Yes, sometimes words hurt. Sentences sear your skin like a lighted match, only it takes a delayed reaction or so. Statements that leave you agape, your tongue left hanging, your mind left wondering what the frig just happened.

Tell you what, I didn’t think about what I said, and honestly, I don’t care what you feel.

As long as I think it’s true, if I get the courage to do it or if my brain does not care to filter my thoughts before they reach my mouth, I’ll say it.

And I don’t regret what I just did. Because I know it’s true.

Yep, that’s the Bastard me. Say all the things you want. And I’ll say something I won’t regret… and you’ll hear something you’d wish you never heard.

It’s a good thing that it’s that time of the month for me. At least I have a reason. And an excuse.

(Yes people, those are two different things. And today, I have the privilege of having both.)

Hello, Mr. Scofield

There are only a few TV series that get me hooked, probably because it has an interesting plot, cute protagonist and/or villains whom I get to like as I watch them.

The three above are the reasons why I, along with my dad and my sister (eventually my other brother would be watching it too), are wide awake, sitting in front of the TV to watch Prison Break.

See, my sister bought a DVD copy of the series’ first season in Metrowalk (where a raid occured, but that’s another story) for reasons I don’t know. Prior to that, a friend of mine was downloading it from YouTube last Friday. Hmm, so it must be interesting.

I propped myself onto the monobloc chair by the dining table as my sister and her boyfriend turned the DVD on and changed the TV to AV mode (ganda ko talaga, hinayaan ko lang silang ihanda ang DVD). That was about 7:30PM. Not long after, my dad came in from the kitchen and watched the series with us. Next thing we knew it was already 2AM of Sunday (of course before that, my sister’s boyfriend went home at about 10PM). And we were going to church at, er, 7AM.

Actually, what makes Prison Break interesting for us (especially my dad who doesn’t watch much TV unless it’s about sports… and news) are those cliffhanger-moments wherein like he’s-sh!tty-gonna-get-caught-but-gets-away-with-it thing. Plus the fact that Michael Scofield is a high-IQ dude with low latent inhibition, which allows him to recognize stimuli that regular people don’t. And he has a blueprint of the prison tattooed on his body in such a way that it forms a huge, complicated pattern around his body. And another thing, he’s got cool inmates. And I must admit, he’s kinda cute for a really squeaky clean guy.

I haven’t finished the whole DVD, so i just hope that it can sustain my interest until the end. And I really hope that by the end of the season, they’ll be out of Fox River.

So that probably means no more season 2. But what the hey, it’s gonna get boring if they don’t break out by then.

TGIF mode

After two weeks of swimming in hell, I’m back in… purgatory, hehe!

…And then I remember my friend describing this place as hell with flourescent lights. Kinda right…

I digress a bit.

Anyway, my breathing is back to normal, but not my body clock. And definitely not my head. Maybe next week when there won’t be any Montwurfday or light OT (meaning mago-OT ng hanggang may araw).

Anyway again, I actually have no idea why I clicked on the My Blog button on my Friendster page. Maybe I just miss writing stuff here.

So… what to talk about…?

Ah, okay… so after the dizzying trip to what was called the client presentation, I took time to relax at home by browsing through the Sunday classifieds of MB. Looking for another work? I’m not quite sure. I just had the urge to do so.

So I continued to browse what was like eight sections of classified ads (beat that). And I stumbled upon an ad that was quite interesting. Guess what, it was a job opening for Al-Jazeera network, based in Qatar. Alja-what? You know, the network that covers all that’s going on in Iraq, the station that Saddam or Bin Laden would call to broadcast their speeches and what-have-yous.

And  I just say to myself, wow.  If I were a daredevil, "husky" bodied, super-moustached guy — and if my family would allow — I’d probably submit my resume right then and there. But since I’m a girl who promised someone that I would keep my, er, promise of not pursuing what she calls a "dangerous" occupation, I won’t. I would’ve wanted to be a cameraman, though…

Speaking of classifieds, I also have this Jobstreet and JobsDB account which I keep until now (just in case something nice comes along). Yesterday as I was checking my mail, I saw another interesting job opening — as special effects coordinator of… tadaannn!!! Victoria Court. Says there the applicant must know how to operate the lights and smoke machine. Uh-huh. Then I wonder… they use the lights and smoke where? Kinda makes you think if there were voyeurs there… no offense of course to those who work there… but it’s kinda interesting, don’t you agree? Well boys, here’s your chance. Ahehe!

Ah well… it’s still to early to enjoy the Friday. I still have 7 to 8 hours of pretending to work. Hehe.

For the meantime, I seek Weeks 12 and 13 of DC’s 52.

It’s one of those delaying tactics… Yep, this is what I learn in the real world, baby. :P
